Support
Help them install cleanly.
Everything I build is free and open source, and it will stay that way. What costs money is the last step, the developer programs that let a Mac app open with a double-click and an extension install from the store in one click. If one of my tools has saved you time, here is exactly what your gift pays for.
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay go through Stripe, which keeps about 3%. GitHub Sponsors keeps nothing and can repeat monthly. Gifts go to me personally and aren't tax-deductible.
What it pays for

Apple Developer Program
$99 per year
Signed, notarized downloads that open with a double-click. Today Shotate and BaneySpaces build themselves on your Mac, which means installing Apple's command line tools first, and Stillport's download shows the "unidentified developer" warning.

How I handle it
Goals fill in order. The $5 store fee comes first because it is the quickest win. Anything past a goal rolls into the next one.
Yearly fees renew. The Apple and Windows goals reset each year. If support stops, the apps stay free and open source. They go back to the warning screens, and the instructions for getting past them stay in each project's docs.
Every dollar is listed. Money in and money out go in the table below, by date. I update it by hand, so it can lag a few days.
Nothing changes for anyone who doesn't give. No paid tiers, no locked features, no ads. Supporters get my thanks and nothing that others don't.
Other ways to help cost nothing. File a clear bug report, star a repository, or tell a friend who would use one of these tools.
Thank you
GitHub sponsors are listed here automatically. Card gifts stay private unless you ask to be named.
